It’s late spring already, and that means the Los Angeles Chapter of the American Institute of Architects is back with the seventh annual AIA | THE.
Interior design projects from across the city, the country, and even overseas received Honor, Merit, or Citation awards in ten separate categories.
Among the winners, KAA, Woods + Dangaran and Laney LA were honored with Honor Awards for their individual contributions in the three Single Family categories. The chapter’s Climate Positive Award was shared between Kendall Architecture Planning + Design and KoningEizenberg for their Flor 401 Lofts and Culver City Townhomes designs respectively, and OFFICEUNTITLED was cited for its new The Fitz apartment complex located on Fairfax Avenue in West Hollywood. . Woods + Dangaran was the most popular company with three awards in total.
The rise of ADUs was also recognized by the inclusion of two projects from Bunch Design and Shin Shin Architecture, both of which received Merit Awards for outstanding designs.
The jury said the group “demonstrates design excellence for all residential types” and commended the projects in the Affordable Housing category for their “ongoing commitment to easing the housing crisis through new shelters that expand opportunities for those who have lived without.”
Twenty-eight projects were nominated in total. The full list of chapters can be viewed here. Scroll down to see a selection of this year’s winners.
