The timeless homewares brand will launch a month-long celebration of the brand’s past, present and future for customers to mark its milestone anniversary in September.

The retailer has created a design legacy with purpose, quality and value for the whole home since the founders Gordon and Carol Segal created the brand with an iconic teapot in 1962 – and has never looked back.

Gordon and Carol Segal founded Crate & Barrel a year after returning from their honeymoon, eager to share the simple yet beautiful domestic products imported from Europe that they encountered on their travels. Their first store on Chicago Wells Street displayed crockery sets and entertainment essentials on wooden crates and barrels. This humble yet forward-looking vision, rooted in quality and accessible design, has guided the company’s growth and inspired decades of iconic products.
