From SoHo to Round Top – The New York fashion designer and interior design queen throw a dream dinner al fresco

EEven without the Round Top Antiques Fair, the bucolic charm of the bustling berg nestled in the rolling countryside between Houston and Austin presents reason enough for special celebrations. Add to that the multitude of designers, artists and buyers who come to the fair and the inspiration for the celebrations soars.

So it was when the fashion designer Jessie Randall de Loeffler Randall decamped from his New York SoHo headquarters recently, not only for the fair, but also to co-host one of those classic Round Top gatherings. She and interior design dealer Courtney Barton has teamed up to present a dreamy al fresco dinner party on the lawn of Marcia Smart‘s Farmhouse Kitchenette.

It was one of those classic Round Top events – beautiful spring weather, dinner on the farm lawn in the countryside with fashion and food front and center. The event celebrated the launch of Loeffler Randall’s spring ready-to-wear collection, which was displayed during the Round Top Spring Antiques Show in a pop-up at Barton’s Round Top boutique.

“The Winter Show was my first visit and I fell in love — with the people, the beautiful city and all the inspiration,” Randall said. “I spotted Courtney outside her beautiful boutique wearing shoes from my line that I designed in 2006. It made me so happy.

“I’ve been to the winter and spring shows now and would love to see what fall has in store for us. I can not wait to return.”

The cornucopia of vintage designs and furniture on display during the fair and the campaign itself inspired Loeffler’s love for organic, raw materials and special techniques and details like gathers, weaving, quilting and knots tied. Her designs reveal her affection for craftsmanship and touch with a love for pops of color and beautiful flowers.

“On another note,” says Loeffler, “one of the many special things about the dinner was the beautiful table that Courtney designed with beautiful elements from her boutique. We made custom LR bandanas given to each guest in using a signature print from our collection and these have been attached to each seat.

On Smart’s menu were spicy margaritas, endives with green vinaigrette, grilled lamb chops, a salad dish, chili-rubbed salmon, and a fresh berry crumble.

And of course the Loeffler Randall team were dressed in boho chic LR dresses and several guests had bought a number to wear for this country chic evening under the stars.
