Nine Smart Tech Products for Whole Home Systems

In just a few short years, smart home systems and Wi-Fi enabled features have gone from a specialized novelty to a standard feature (or upgrade package) for many new home builders. Below are some of the newer products that manufacturers can integrate into their home technology systems, including home appliances, deadbolts, and portable smart controls:

The Kohler Moxie wireless shower head and speaker features a Harman Kardon speaker built into the center of the shower head, attached via a magnetic docking system. The speaker is IPX7 waterproof, specially designed to overcome shower noise, and can be taken out and used anywhere with up to six hours of battery life. The shower head itself provides full body spray coverage in a ring surrounding the speaker and is available in a white or black finish with a stainless steel trim. The system is available in two models: Bluetooth and AI with Amazon Alexa.

The Sharp Integrated Microwave Drawer with Wi-Fi connectivity is designed to integrate seamlessly with existing smart home systems. Using the Sharp Kitchen app, homeowners can send cooking instructions to the drawer, save favorite menu items, and access smart sensor cooking options. The drawer is available in a stainless steel finish with a black glass front, concealed glass touch controls and a motion sensor for “one-touch” operation. Mounting options include ‘proud mount’ or flush mount with airflow control.

Haven provides a centralized control system for existing ecobee SmartThermostats and SmartSensors, as well as two new products: a SmartCamera and SmartSensors for doors and windows. The system’s autopilot function uses machine learning to identify user patterns and adjust security functions, including automatically arming or disarming the alarm system. This, according to the manufacturer, eliminates the need for entry or exit devices, as the system can distinguish residents from intruders.

The Loox5 system includes a new series of narrower LED light strips, which offer increased lighting quality and a guaranteed lifespan of 50,000 hours; new profiles for recessed and surface mounting; a modular and flexible distribution system, and drivers designed for continuous operation. The Häfele Connect Mesh network is available with the system, which works with the Häfele Connect Mesh app to operate Häfele products throughout the home.

SnapAV’s Neeo remote works through the Control4 Smart Home OS 3 platform to provide intelligent whole-home control with touch, voice and hard button commands. Homeowners can use the touchscreen to switch between home entertainment devices or set one-touch controls for frequently used channels or services. The machined aluminum frame of the remote is specially designed to protect the 3 inch touchscreen. It is available in a black or silver finish and lasts up to five days on a single charge.

The Lockly Vision adds an HD video doorbell to the existing features of the manufacturer’s smart lock series. The lock camera broadcasts directly to the user’s mobile device and provides instant, live two-way audio between the device and the front door. Like its predecessors, the Lockly Vision uses a keypad position randomizer to prevent passcode duplication. It requires no wiring for installation and works for up to eight months on eight AA batteries.

The Encode Smart Wi-Fi deadbolt features built-in Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing homeowners to access the deadbolt functions remotely through the Schlage Home app from anywhere without using a smart hub. It is compatible with voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assist, and allows users to add Amazon Key home delivery by adding an Amazon Cloud Cam (Key Edition) to the system. Keypads are available in Aged Bronze, Matte Black, Satin Nickel and Bright Chrome finishes.

In addition to thermal comfort, the ClimaPure XE ductless mini-split HVAC system uses an integrated air filtration system – Panasonic’s nanoe X air purification technology – to neutralize common viruses, pollutants or odors. Users can activate the system using the connection of the ClimaPure to the Panasonic app. The system is available in a range of five models, with a capacity of 9,000 to 24,000 BTU / hr. Each unit has a high SEER, between 20.0 and 28.0, depending on model and capacity.

Hunter Douglas
The rechargeable battery wand provides a durable and convenient alternative to disposable battery operation for Hunter Douglas PowerView automated shades. Charging the Battery Wand lasts for up to a year, depending on shade usage, and owners are automatically notified by email or through the PowerView app when a Battery Wand needs to be recharged, as well as the where it is in the house. The wand is UL listed and has a wide operating temperature range, with an extreme heat safety shutdown function.
