People use home security systems for more than catching thieves

FARGO, ND (Valley News Live) – Homes are smarter than ever.

Home security systems help catch thieves, but they actually do a lot more than that.

“It has become an aspect of accountability, so if people slip and fall on your property or if a dog is bitten, they can all be examined by video cameras,” said Trinity Schaff, president of TrinSpin Inc.

Lots of people have home security systems these days, but they’re not just used to catch thieves.

“It has become a liability, so if people slip and fall on your property or if a dog is bitten, they can all be examined by video cameras,” Schaff explains.

Trinspin says being able to have proof of accidents inside or outside your home is invaluable to your insurance.

Corn…. is one enough?

“What we often see is not enough cameras on the property and the owners are trying to distinguish eye color from a distance. There are ways to do this, but you need more cameras,” explains Schaff.

There is even a service that will back up your images for you in the event your camera is stolen.

“There are ways to record individual cameras here remotely or from outside sites across the country. We have contracts with several locations around the country that hold footage for us for several different cameras, ”says TrinSpin.

What if you’re worried about strangers gaining access to your home security footage …..

“It’s always that aspect of privacy, but what people need to understand is that you are always in front of the camera, no matter where you are. We get that kind of reluctance from people saying it violates their privacy, but I don’t think you can go anywhere without being in front of the camera anymore, ”Schaff said.

Any house or apartment can have cameras installed.
