Vivint launches 4 new smart home security devices

Smart home company Vivint is launching an updated lineup of new home security devices today, as well as improving the intelligence of its home security system with an improved computer vision (CVC) chip.

Four new Vivint products are about to hit the market, including the Doorbell Camera Pro, Outdoor Camera Pro, Indoor Camera Pro, and a new device called Spotlight Pro. All four can be integrated into an existing Vivint setup to make your home “even smarter and more secure,” according to Jim Nye, chief product officer at Vivint.

Vivint’s system relies on a centralized controller, a smartphone app, a range of professionally installed devices in your home, and artificial intelligence to both learn user habits and detect potential threats. The entire system is then monitored remotely 24/7, and when PCMag reviewed the system last year, we found it to be one of the best security systems around. for professional home monitoring.

Vivint says these new devices were designed with feedback from owners in mind, and the first improvement is an upgrade to the proprietary HVAC. The new chip is intended to unlock more intelligence, improving object and person detection while enhancing the cameras’ Smart Deter capabilities.

Let’s take a look at the new devices launching today:

Doorbell Camera Pro

The Doorbell Camera Pro offers the same 180 by 180 degree lens, two-way talk and Smart Deter with 90dB speaker as the original. However, it adds an encrypted SD card on the camera and improves the camera sensor and HDR for better color and low-light video performance.

The new form factor allows for the integration of a larger button and a larger, brighter LED light. Improved HVAC means it should be even harder for a porch hacker to steal your packages.

Pro Outdoor Camera

Pro Outdoor Camera

The new Pro Outdoor Camera retains the 85dB speaker, LED ring light, 360-degree ball head for positioning, and a 140-degree lens with 3x zoom and 4K HDR sensor. Add to that night vision, watch zones and a far-field microphone for two-way talk.

The updated model promises improved image color depth, an encrypted on-camera SD card and compatibility with the new Spotlight Pro accessory.

Professional Projector

Professional Projector

The Spotlight Pro is a brand new product in the Vivint line and is designed to complement the Outdoor Camera Pro.

The projector accessory provides two main functions. The first is a soft light lighting device, allowing you to walk safely around your property at night. The second is called “Deter Mode” and acts as a serious deferent for would-be thieves

When deterrent mode is on, it works with the Pro Outdoor Camera to detect people on your property and then shines a bright spotlight on them. Dynamic lighting will adjust to the movement of the person, keeping them always in the spotlight.

Indoor Camera Pro

Indoor Camera Pro

The new Pro Indoor Camera improves on the existing model by adding a new audio analytics feature that can detect broken glass as well as react to smoke and CO detectors installed in your home. It can then send an alert through the smart home panel so the homeowner can respond quickly.

As with the other new models, there’s a built-in encrypted SD card, improved detection with the new CVC, and a privacy mode so the camera can be set to record only when your Vivint system is set to ‘away/armed’ . Vivint has also managed to make the new model look sleeker with a fully articulating hinge system, which should make placement and assembly easier.

The Doorbell Camera Pro is available now for $249.99, as is the Outdoor Camera Pro for $399.99. The Spotlight Pro will launch in July for $249.99, and the new Pro Indoor Camera is due out later this year for $199.99. A basic Vivint smart home security system costs $599 depending on the products required, and remote monitoring costs from $19.99 per month.
