While you can arm your property to the teeth with sensors, cameras, and sirens (which add up quickly), CamPlus Pro takes some of that stress off your wallet and your router bandwidth. In fact, I downsized multiple door sensors, motion detectors, and a home security center spread throughout my apartment to a single 2-inch camera pointed at the main entrance to relay information from state. Now live video accompanies notifications when cameras detect movement or the front door is open. Previously I would see the door sensor telling me that an entrance was open, then a few seconds later a motion sensor would go off, and finally after that a panoramic camera would send me a clip that needed a few seconds to process . This service connects your Wyze Cam directly to live agents; if you don’t use it and miss a burglary, no one will make that call for you. Noonlight does not have access to live images. Instead, a temporary clip is sent to make sure everything is okay and expires shortly after an event ends.
During testing, the response time between triggering the alarm and receiving an SMS from the security call center averaged 15 seconds. It’s very fast in an emergency, especially compared to the Ring Alarm, which was often three times slower. (I tested the response times at 8am, 5pm and 11pm to get an accurate idea of how long it took for the monitoring service to reach out after triggering the alarm at different times of the day .) Wyze Cam V3 is the most complete option in the range. It’s rated IP65 to withstand the elements, includes a fairly loud built-in siren that’s effective indoors, and provides clear night vision with its built-in Starlight camera sensor. You can even buy it additional projector to illuminate a dark or outdoor space (this is not compatible with either of the other two models). Without CamPlus Pro, this little camera is still great for self-monitoring your property but not alerting the police. 1080p quality is clear but fails to distinguish fine details like a tattoo. The wording on the clothing, however, looks sharp.
My only issue with this system is the lack of backup for cell service or battery – turn off the power to the camera and/or router and it becomes useless. In the event of a disaster, a configuration of Ring or SimpliSafe at least has built-in cell service and power reserves. To ease this worry, you can get two separate power storage backups, one for the camera and one for the modem and router. But this option is not cheap and takes both space and energy. It will be interesting to see if Wyze fixes this in a Wyze Cam V4, as I’d be happy to pay more for the safety net. As it stands, the system is a safe bet, especially if you currently lack home security or are using an older system.
